The Three Rivers District covers an area of 90 miles across x 60 miles high and includes 73 churches, at least one in each of the 10 counties surrounding Coshocton. The churches vary in styles from liberal to conservative to evangelical, large membership to very small. Fifty-five pastors serve in this district and their mission and ministries are varied as well.

Rev. James Humphrey, D.S.

James H. Humphrey was born in Salem, Ohio. Jim grew up in a Christian home with three older brothers on a 180-acre farm near Guilford Lake, Ohio. His father, Don, was a rural mail carrier and farmer. His mother, Elinor, was a bookkeeper, director of Community Action Agency and an author.

Jim's home church is Winona United Methodist Church. A major part of his growing Christian experience was through the camping ministry at Camp Aldersgate. He is a graduate of United High School near Hanoverton, Ohio. He graduated from Mount Union College in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (double major in Religion and Sociology) and received a M.Div from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY in 1982. He has attended numerous trainings and continuing education events and has served on many committees and boards on his districts and on the conference level.

Jim has organized mission teams to New Orleans on two separate trips. In the near future there will be a group heading for Nashville to assist with the flooding clean-up.

He has served the following churches: Coalburg, Canfield (associate), Toronto First, Shelby Trinity, and presently Doylestown.

He shares the parsonage with his cat, Quiggles. He enjoys music, singing, playing the keyboard, and loves to travel. Jim is a member of the Coshocton Community Choir.

Joy Snyder

Wanda Joy (Thompson) Snyder joined the Three Rivers District as the Administrative Assistant in January 2011 after eight years as the Outreach and Event Coordinator for Newcomerstown Christ UMC where she is also a member. Moving from Warsaw to Newcomerstown in 1970, Joy completed her undergrad degree at Ohio University in 1985. The same year, Joy married David, and they served as missionaries in Portugal. Upon returning to states, they lived in Wilmore, KY, and Mt. Vernon before settling in Newcomerstown in 1990. David is a self employed contractor. Portrait photograph of Joy Snyder's family Their youngest child, Allison, attends Bethany College, WV, majoring in sports and business management. She has been instrumental in developing campus ministry opportunities. Their middle child, James Patrick, is a junior at Kent State studying construction management. JP has worked with several camps and youth ministries. He is exploring other avenues of service, possibly in the area of disaster relief. Oldest son, Aaron, and wife, Amy, currently reside in California; having returned from the mission field to raise their new daughter. David and Joy are excited to enjoy their new roles as grandparents to Peyton Elizabeth. "Wow, it has been one year!
